Mother Earth is Bleeding!
The icebergs are our time’s symbols of man-made climate change and "The Mother" is sick. The world is changing. Are the icebergs soon part of a bygone era, as a result of greed, desire and lack of respect for Mother Earth.

The Story:
Drifting around in open sea, the icebergs are doomed. Monumental, dignified and powerful, they embark on a journey of transience. Over time, they become a threat themselves as they contribute to rising sea levels. “ ( ...read more below)

CAN WE CHANGE THE WAY WE THINK AND LIVE?

MONUMENTS” is the result of a personal commitment to the environment and reflection on the major climate challenges of our time. With an inherent respect for nature, Selfors seeks to capture the magic of the landscapes that surround us. Melancholy and transience recur in many of Selfors’s works. He captures moments that exist here and now, but within moments are gone.

In a remote and icy corner of the globe, the fate of the world is taking place. Therefore, a hundred American and British scientists have camped on the glacier. The gigantic Thwaites-glacier - also called the “Doomsday Glacier” - is being eaten up by warm seawater. If it disappears, the whole of West Antarctica will collapse and the sea will rise by three metres.

We can change the way we think about economic growth. We can change our way of life, but not necessarily our quality of life in terms of material prosperity. Let us regain the common respect for Mother Earth, as previous cultures did. The drifting icebergs remind us that we can all contribute to positive change. By making individual choices, we can unite as a whole, and create a better world for our children and grandchildren. The Paris Agreement obliges - and “Monuments” reminds us that hope lives on. Through collective efforts, we can contribute to a positive change.
